FORCE: Fiber Optic Research Center of Excellence

Moog Fiber Optics Research Center of Excellence is an ISO 7, Class 10,000 Cleanroom that houses precision optical alignment, encapsulation, and test equipment capable of producing OSAs (Optical Sub-Assemblies) operating from 100M to 28Gbps with industry standard and/or unique functionality, performance, and mechanical characteristics.

Moog began the design and build of this state-of-the-art cleanroom in early 2018 with the goal of housing precision optical alignment, encapsulation, and test equipment dedicated for optical semiconductor design, prototyping, and test. Moog has the capability of supporting all of the SOSA participants with their long-life cycle optical networking needs, as their requirements continue to grow and are further defined.

• Processing Capabilities: Burn-in, active alignment and capping, curing, performance testing, harsh-environment reliability testing, visual and optical inspection, and design/modeling of novel optical systems.
• Future Process Capabilities: Die attach, fiber metallization, micro-welding, wire bonding, TO-can welding, mechanical test, and hermeticity test.
