COTSWORKS now offers the service to seal or “pot” military and aerospace connectors for applications requiring a hermetic interface. MIL-DTL-38999 connectors housing fiber optic termini, defined under MIL-PRF-29504, may be required to operate in an environment where the electronics box is sealed from the outside environment. Available on most standard and select custom shell size D38999 connectors, a hermiticity rating of 1×10-6 cc/sec helium with no degradation to the optical performance can be achieved.
OEMs requiring this capability, can contact COTSWORKS’ sales and work with a trained application engineer to determine what components can be used, types of epoxy, environmental test requirements, and even active data transmission testing. COTSWORKS’ application engineers will create drawings and BOMs for customer review and approval along with appropriately documented quotations.
COTSWORKS Potted Connector Product line is available for order in Q1 of 2025 with evaluation samples available as early as December 2024.
